Frequently Asked Questions

There has been some trials on the effect of glutathione on skin pigmentation and lightening. Trials have shown significant reduction in melanin index which positively establishes skin lightening effects of glutathione by oral, sublingual and orobuccal routes.

Glutathione therapy by orobuccal route is safe and adverse effects like pruritus, macular erythema, red spots on the skin and tiredness is rare. Intravenous glutathione therapy may have toxic effects on the liver, kidneys and cental nervous system especially at high doses.

Glutathione by orobuccal route can be safely administered at a dose of 100 to 500 mg per day for periods of between 10-12 weeks, depending upon indication and treatment can be repeated to maintain effect.

Intravenous glutathione can be administered in dose of 10-20 mg/kg bodyweight ie 600-1200 mg twice or once weekly for 6 weeks.

Parenteral route ie intravenous route is the most effective route to get desired results in a short span of time. Oral glutathione is poorly absorbed due to it's rapid degradation in the gastrointestinal tract; thus only 10% is absorbed and is not therapeutically effective.

Glutathione is rapidly absorbed by orobuccal route via the rich network of blood vessels in the oral mucosa; leading to over 80% absorption directly into the blood circulation and reaches high enough serum levels in the blood to be therapeutically effective. Orobuccal route is the most preferred route to achieve desired results without any invasive procedure.
